Toyota Prius passenger alleges she sustained injury after driver lost control of vehicle

FRESNO – A woman alleges she was injured when the driver of the Prius she was traveling in lost control of the vehicle on highway in Fresno County.

Valerie D. Stephens filed a complaint on July 10 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Alan Elliott Atamian alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Stephens alleges that on Aug. 15, 2016, while a passenger of defendant Atamian's 2002 Toyota Prius on state Route 145 in Fresno County, Atamian left the roadway, struck a paddle marker and lost control of the vehicle. As a result, Stephens claims she sustained serious physical injuries, permanent disability and incurred medical expenses. 

The plaintiff holds Atamian responsible because the defendant allegedly operated the vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having no regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on and the surface and width of the highway.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for compensatory damages according to proof. She is represented by Larry H. Shapazian of Tomassian, Pimental & Shapazian in Fresno.
