LOS ANGELES – A liquor and grocery store in Compton is alleged to not have ADA-compliant parking spaces for customers with disabilities.

Kimberly Coleman filed a complaint on Aug. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against 2876 Alondra LLC, doing business as Nate's Plaza Market, and Does 1-10 alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff has a physical disability and uses a wheelchair. She alleges that on June 2 and again on July 20, she suffered discrimination, difficulty and frustration from being denied full and equal access and enjoyment of the services, goods, amenities and activities being offered at defendant's property because of architectural barriers situated therein, including the lack of parking amenities to accommodate persons with disabilities.

The plaintiff holds 2876 Alondra LLC and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to comply with the federal and state standards for parking spaces designated for persons with disabilities.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, preliminary and permanent injunction, award of all appropriate damages, including statutory, general and treble damages; attorney’s fees; litigation expenses; costs of suit; interest; and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Kevin Hong of Advanced Disability Advocates in Los Angeles.
