Mother, minor file negligence suit against Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Southern California Permanente Medical Group

FRESNO – A mother and her minor child have filed a suit against Fresno County medical entities over alleged injuries surrounding the minor's birth.

Avery A. Camberos, a minor by and through his guardian ad litem Haley Hopper, and Haley Hopper filed a complaint on Nov. 15 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Southern California Permanente Medical Group Inc. and Does 1-30 alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Hopper was a patient of the defendants and Camberos was born Feb. 1, 2018. The plaintiffs allege they defendants were negligent in their obstetrical, hospital and neonatal care.

The plaintiff holds Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Southern California Permanente Medical Group Inc., and Does 1-30 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly advise Hopper of any other possible alternative methods of diagnosis or treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for economic and non-economic damages, legal interest and further relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Philip Michels and Martin P. Weniz of Law Offices of Michels & Lew in Los Angeles.
