REDWOOD CITY - A lengthy lawsuit in the San Mateo County Superior Court accuses a Walnut law firm of choosing to take a case the type of which they had no previous experience.

The complaint was filed on April 23 by plaintiffs Noah Meiner, Lennifer Hilliard and Sandra Wilson. The plaintiffs hired defendants the Heit Law Group and attorneys Robin Sheehan, Brian Heit and Matthew Feaver to represent them as plaintiffs in a case against a spam advertiser.

The plaintiffs say they hired the defendants after the defendants solicited their knowledge in spam cases and allegedly informed the plaintiffs that they would make large amounts of money from the case.

The defendants have actually never litigated a spam advertising case before, allegedly causing a multitude of issues in their litigation of the cause that cost the plaintiffs their civil damages.

As a result of the firm's alleged malpractice, the plaintiffs were forced to settle for 4% of their claims' base value.

The defendants are charged with professional negligence, legal malpractice, promissory estoppel, conversion, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, violation of unfair competition law, violation of business and professions code and unjust enrichment.

The plaintiffs request the amount of their claims' value that they lost due to the defendants' alleged incompetence, totaling almost $475,000 in civil damages, plus a multitude of other damages and costs.

The plaintiffs are represented by the Law Offices of Daniel Balsam.
