SAN FRANCISCO -- A woman and her three children are suing the City of San Francisco for the death of her husband and their father.

Jamie Stacy, along with three minor children, for decedent Edward Stacy, filed a complaint on June 4 in San Francisco Superior Court against RSA Security LLC, the City and County of San Francisco and Does 1-50 for wrongful death and premises liability.

According to the complaint, On February 25, 2020, San Francisco Mayor London Breed issued an Emergency Proclamation after cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the city. The mayor ordered that all officers and employees take all steps requested by the Director of the DPH to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On Feb. 23, 2020 until Feb. 28, 2020, Edward Stacy, an employee of Pcysys, Inc, a vendor at the 2020 RSA Conference, attended the conference and interacted with attendees of the conference. On March 1, 2020, Stacy began exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, the suit says.

On March 9, 2020, Stacy was admitted to a hospital and immediately placed in ICU on a ventilator. Stacy died on March 17, 2020, due to COVID-19. Jamie Stacy alleges that Defendants did not take appropriate precautions against COVID-19 and did not shut down or prohibit the conference, knowing the pandemic was still an issue, which caused her husband to contract the virus and ultimately die.

Stacy seeks general damages, special damages, prejudgment interest and cost of suit. Stacy is represented by Edward J. Wynne of Wynne Law Firm.
