Woman sues Amtrak for head injury, wants $4 million

FRESNO - Marlene McDonald filed a federal lawsuit on August 12 in the Eastern District of California against Amtrak, also known as National Railroad Passenger Corporation, for negligence and negligence per se.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 14, 2019, McDonald was traveling on an Amtrak that had departed from Stockton. During a stop in Fresno, McDonald allegedly tried to get up and gather her things to begin the departure process, and as she was carrying her luggage, the train lunged forwards then backwards, causing her to be thrown to the floor in front of the departure door and hit her head. 

McDonald's injury has allegedly caused her to have continuous hospitalizations and rehabilitation. 

McDonald seeks $4 million. McDonald is represented by Danie L. Harralson.
