A California corporation has filed a lawsuit against a surgical and dental group, alleging breach of contract, fraud, defamation, and other serious accusations. The complaint was lodged by WUWTA, Inc. in the Superior Court of the State of California for the City and County of San Francisco on July 29, 2024, targeting Dr. Mehdi Matin, Dr. Mina Katchooi, and M. Matin Surgical And Dental Group Inc.
According to the court documents, WUWTA Inc., a San Francisco-based company specializing in providing marketing services to medical and dental practices, entered into a 12-month contract with the defendants. The agreement outlined specific services that WUWTA would provide to enhance the defendants' business operations. Dr. Matin assured WUWTA that they could afford the contractual payments and agreed to upgrade their practice management software to integrate seamlessly with WUWTA's systems.
However, complications arose when Dr. Matin abruptly canceled a scheduled video shoot citing personal reasons on March 18, 2024. Despite this setback, WUWTA waived rescheduling fees due to family matters and attempted to set another date for the shoot. Tensions escalated when Dr. Matin emailed on April 18, 2024, attempting to cancel the entire contract due to "unexpected personal matters" and alleged incompatibility issues between their software systems—a claim WUWTA asserts is false.
WUWTA alleges that Dr. Matin never intended to fulfill the contract but rather sought proprietary information from them without compensation. Furthermore, after being informed they couldn't simply walk away from their obligations under the contract, Defendants allegedly retaliated by posting defamatory reviews online through Google Profiles—reviews that were purportedly false and damaging to WUWTA's reputation.
The plaintiff seeks both monetary damages and injunctive relief from the court. They request general damages for each cause of action determined at trial, reasonable attorney fees as specified in their contract with the defendants, punitive damages for fraud and malice demonstrated by defendants' actions, and an injunction requiring removal of defamatory posts while preventing further defamation.
