A shocking case of alleged medical negligence has emerged, involving a prominent medical group and a patient who suffered severe consequences. Ann Miller-Wilson filed a complaint on August 29, 2024, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, against Sutter Congenital Heart Clinic and associated entities.

The lawsuit details that Ann Miller-Wilson sought medical care from the defendants on June 10, 2023. She was fitted with a Holter monitor to diagnose her cardiac rhythm issues. However, the defendants allegedly failed to review the results in a timely manner, leading to Miller-Wilson suffering cardiac arrest on the same day. According to the complaint, this delay in diagnosis and treatment constitutes medical negligence.

Miller-Wilson’s legal representation from Wilcoxen Callaham LLP argues that the defendants breached their duty of care by not exercising the necessary skill and diligence expected from medical practitioners in their community. The plaintiff asserts that each defendant was either an agent or employee of one another and acted within their professional scope during these events. The lawsuit states: "Defendants failed to exercise that degree of due care and/or skill common to medical practitioners," resulting in severe injuries for Miller-Wilson.

The plaintiff served notices of intent to commence legal action on May 16, 2024. She claims that as a direct result of the defendants' negligence, she has endured significant physical and emotional distress. The complaint further elaborates that Miller-Wilson's injuries have led to permanent disability, diminished capacity for gainful employment, and ongoing medical expenses.

Miller-Wilson is seeking various forms of relief from the court. These include general damages exceeding $25,000, compensation for past and future medical expenses, lost earnings due to her reduced ability to work, incidental expenses related to her condition, and pre-judgment interest on all damages incurred.

Representing Ann Miller-Wilson is E.S. Deacon from Wilcoxen Callaham LLP. The case has been assigned Case No. 24cearotre2se in front of an unspecified judge at this time.
