In a class action lawsuit filed on October 7, 2024, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, Raymond Villalovos has taken legal action against Triple Canopy, Inc., alleging multiple labor law violations. The complaint highlights a series of grievances regarding unpaid wages and unfair employment practices that have reportedly affected Villalovos and others similarly situated.

Raymond Villalovos, represented by attorneys Aidin D. Ghavimi and Zachary D. Greenberg from Starpoint LC, claims that Triple Canopy, Inc., along with unnamed defendants referred to as DOES 1 through 100, systematically violated several provisions of the California Labor Code. The allegations include failure to pay minimum and overtime wages, failure to provide meal and rest periods, inaccurate wage statements, and unfair competition practices. According to the complaint, these actions were part of an established company policy that resulted in employees being underpaid for their work hours due to practices such as rounding time worked to benefit the employer.

Villalovos details his employment experience with Triple Canopy from July 2023 until June 2024 as a security officer working long hours without appropriate compensation or breaks. He alleges that he was often required to work off-the-clock during meal and rest periods without pay. Furthermore, the complaint accuses Triple Canopy of editing time records to avoid paying overtime wages owed for hours worked beyond the standard forty-hour workweek or on consecutive days without adequate compensation.

The lawsuit seeks various forms of relief from the court including compensatory damages for unpaid wages and penalties under relevant labor laws. Villalovos is also pursuing restitution damages for unlawfully withheld wages and reimbursement for business expenses incurred during his employment which were not compensated by Triple Canopy. Additionally, he demands statutory penalties for failure to maintain accurate employee records and requests an injunction compelling compliance with labor code requirements.

Representing Villalovos are attorneys Aidin D. Ghavimi and Zachary D. Greenberg from Starpoint LC law firm. The case is presided over by Judge M. Bui under Case ID 24CV449130.
