Candee Lynn Cooper has filed a lawsuit against several public entities and corporations, alleging negligence and dangerous conditions on public property that led to severe injuries. The complaint was filed by Cooper in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco on October 8, 2024, naming the City of San Francisco, County of San Francisco, State of California, Bay Community Housing L.P., Extra Space Storage Inc., Comcast of California III, Inc., and other unnamed defendants as responsible parties.

The lawsuit stems from an incident on September 17, 2023, when Cooper reportedly suffered significant injuries after tripping over a defect on a sidewalk at or near 1400-1468 Folsom Street in San Francisco. The plaintiff claims that the defendants failed to maintain safe conditions on their properties and did not provide adequate warnings about potential hazards. According to the complaint, "no warning signs were posted" at the location where Cooper fell, resulting in her sustaining fractures to her pelvis and spine.

Cooper's legal team argues that these entities had a duty to ensure public safety by maintaining their premises properly. They allege that this duty was breached due to negligence in inspecting and repairing the sidewalk where the accident occurred. The lawsuit cites multiple causes of action including dangerous condition of public property under various sections of the California Government Code (§§ 815.2, 815.6, 820(a), etc.), failure to inspect or negligent inspection (§ 818.6), liability for injuries caused by employees within their scope of employment (§ 815.2), liability for injuries caused by independent contractors (§ 815.4), negligence, and premises liability.

In seeking redress from the court, Cooper demands compensation for all past and future economic damages such as medical expenses and loss of income; non-economic damages; loss or damage to personal property; pre-trial and post-trial interest; costs of suit; and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Candee Lynn Cooper are attorneys Mary L. Caruso and Ethan L. Flinders from Wilshire Law Firm PLC based in Los Angeles. The case is identified with Case No: CGC-24-618786 at the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco.
