In a dramatic legal showdown, a California woman has filed a lawsuit against a prominent San Francisco nightclub and its security team, alleging negligence and reckless behavior that led to her being violently assaulted. The complaint was filed by Nikola Konstantinovica in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of San Francisco on January 30, 2025, targeting Zen Compound, LLC, doing business as Temple SF Night Club, along with several individuals associated with the club.
The case stems from an incident on March 14, 2024, when Konstantinovica visited Temple SF Night Club with friends. According to the complaint, she was accosted by a former roommate who initiated a verbal altercation that escalated into physical violence outside the club. Despite the presence of security personnel from Epic Security Works Corp., the situation spiraled out of control as guards allegedly failed to intervene and instead recorded the fight while making derogatory comments. "Temple Nightclub's grossly inadequate security failed to break up the altercation," reads the complaint. Konstantinovica claims that this negligence is part of a broader pattern at Temple Nightclub, which has reportedly been plagued by violent incidents over its history.
Konstantinovica accuses Zen Compound and its owners Paul Hemming and Wendy Hemming of failing to ensure patron safety through proper hiring and supervision practices. The lawsuit highlights that prior complaints about inadequate security had been ignored by the defendants. Furthermore, it alleges that Epic Security Works Corp., along with John Windsor and other unnamed parties (DOES 1-50), were complicit in allowing such environments to persist due to negligent hiring practices.
The plaintiff seeks general and special damages for her injuries sustained during the altercation. She also demands compensation for emotional distress caused by what she describes as an avoidable incident resulting from negligent security measures at Temple Nightclub. The court is asked to award costs as allowed by law and any additional relief deemed appropriate.
Representing Nikola Konstantinovica are attorneys Joseph M. Goethals and Charles P. Stone from Goethals & Stone PC. The case is identified under Case No. CGC-25-621955 in front of Judge Sahar Enayati at the Superior Court of California in San Francisco County.
