Gautama Unni has filed a lawsuit alleging a brutal assault by security personnel at a San Francisco venue, seeking justice and accountability for the traumatic incident. The complaint was filed by Unni on January 28, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, against Arena SF and 2565 Mission Street LLC.
According to the complaint, Gautama Unni claims that on February 11, 2023, while exiting the premises located at 2565 Mission St., he was verbally harassed and physically assaulted by security guards identified as DOES 1 to 5. The plaintiff alleges that these individuals acted with malicious intent, causing him significant physical injuries and psychological trauma. "Defendants DOES 1 to 5’s malicious and oppressive despicable conduct set forth above was intended to cause injury," states the complaint. The lawsuit outlines multiple causes of action including assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and negligent hiring and supervision.
Unni's legal team argues that the defendants failed in their duty to protect patrons from harm. They claim that Arena SF and its associated entities negligently hired unfit security personnel who posed a risk to others. Furthermore, they assert that the defendants’ actions were so outrageous that they exceeded all bounds tolerated by civilized society. "The conduct of Defendants...was a substantial factor in causing Plaintiff's harm," reads one section of the filing.
In pursuit of justice, Gautama Unni is seeking various forms of relief from the court. These include general damages for his suffering, special damages for incurred medical expenses and legal costs, as well as punitive damages aimed at deterring similar misconduct in the future. The plaintiff also demands a jury trial to address these grievances.
Representing Gautama Unni is attorney Daniel Moossai from Downtown L.A. Law Group. The case has been assigned Case No.: CGC-25-621816 in front of the Superior Court of California in San Francisco County.
