San Diego man sues car manufacturers over alleged fraud.

LOS ANGELES – A San Diego man alleges that certain car manufacturers violated U.S. environmental law by putting a defeat device in their cars that would temporarily reduce emissions in order to pass inspection.

Eric Olney filed a class-action lawsuit Oct. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Volkswagen Group of America Inc., Volkswagen of America Inc., Volkswagen AG, and Does 1 through 10, citing fraud and other counts

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he purchased a new vehicle equipped with an emissions control defeat device from the defendant. The plaintiff holds Volkswagen Group of America Inc., Volkswagen of America Inc., Volkswagen AG, and Does 1 through 10 responsible because they allegedly manufactured automobiles with the device despite of the environmental laws in place.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensatory damages, costs, interest and attorneys' fees. He is represented by John H. Gomez and Deborah S.
