Couple accuses doctor, Family Healthcare Network of medical malpractice

Medical malpractice 06

SACRAMENTO – A Tulare County couple alleges the wife was misdiagnosed and was injured during a surgery.

Yolanda Alonzo and Mario Alonzo filed a complaint on April 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against United States Family Healthcare Network, Dr. Elizabeth Enderton and Does 1 through 20, inclusive alleging medical malpractice and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 2, 2014, plaintiff Yolanda Alonzo was misdiagnosed as having a fibroid uterus condition. The suit states she actually had a uterine tubular abscess and that the defendants caused a blockage of the ureter during a robotic hysterectomy. She also alleges her rectum was perforated during the surgery and that she needed additional treatment. Her husband alleges he was deprived of his wife's affection and companionship because of the procedure.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek award for general and special damages, costs of suit, disbursements incurred and other further relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by David M. Moeck of Quinlan, Kershaw and Fanucchi LLP in Fresno.
