Employees allege West Covina isn't paying the correct overtime rate

Law money 03

LOS ANGELES – Current city of West Covina employees allege that they are not being paid the correct rate for overtime work.

Keith Freeman, Bryan Gaboury, Anthony Huacuja, Joseph Meyers and Doug Weischedel filed a complaint on May 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the city of West Covina and Does 1 through 10, inclusive alleging that the defendant violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime compensation at a rate of one-and-one-half times their regular rate of pay, refused to correct the matter and refused to provide any meaningful response explaining its rationale and/or defend illegal practice.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for actual, consequential, liquidated damages, incidental losses, attorney fees, costs, and any other relief as the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Michael A. McGill of Adams, Ferrone and Ferrone in Westlake Village.
