Textile business accuses Nordstrom Rack of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles textile business is suing Nordstrom, alleging copyright infringement.

Couture Textile Inc. filed a complaint Sept. 19,in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Nordstrom Inc., doing business as Nordstrom Rack, and Does 1-10, alleging they violated laws through unauthorized distribution of an intellectual property.

According to the complaint, Couture Textile has and will continue to sustain substantial, immediate and irreparable injury from the defendants’ for-profit, unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and exploitation of plaintiff’s copyrighted two-dimensional artwork for use on textiles titled "September 0113 Major Collection.” 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants caused substantial damages to Couture's business and profit, and illegally obtained profit at the expense of plaintiff.

Couture Textile seeks trial by jury, enjoin defendants from further infringing the plaintiff’s copyrights, all profits, attorney fees, interest, costs of litigation and all relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorney C. Yong Jeong of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
