Patient accuses Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital of improper care

Medical malpractice 07

SAN DIEGO — A patient is suing a major San Francisco hospital, alleging negligence and breach of duty.

Ronald Satish Emrit, who is indigent and disabled, filed a complaint Feb. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, alleging the defendant failed to send the plaintiff to any psychiatric hospital when Emrit was depressed and suicidal.

According to the complaint, in September 2017, Emrit had checked into Zuckerberg after having become increasingly depressed after his hospital stay at John George Psychiatric Hospital in San Leandro, California. Emrit says after speaking to the defendant's psychiatrist, he was discharged after staying one night and without being placed in an acute diversion unit (ADU). He says he could have gone through an institution such as the Dore Clinic or been sent to Fort Worth, Texas, through the homeward bound program. The suit says Emrit lives in Fort Worth

The plaintiff alleges Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital did nothing to help Emrit with his manic and/or depressive phases of his bipolar/schizoaffective disorder or major depressive disorder and his suicidal ideations.

Emrit seeks trial by jury, plus $250,000 for punitive, compensatory, treble, actual, presumed and special damages. He is representing himself.
