OROVILLE – A Butte County farm is being sued by two individuals over allegations their vehicle struck a cow owned by the farm on a state route.

Jessica Castro and Jacob Sabin filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the Butte Superior Court against Book Family Farm alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 22, 2017, the plaintiffs were traveling in their vehicle on state Route 99 in Butte County when their vehicle collided with a cow that was owned, possessed and controlled by the defendant.

The plaintiffs hold Book Family Farm responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to correct, remedy and/or otherwise address the dangerous condition so as to prevent the cow from escaping the property and prevent the collision between the cow and plaintiffs' vehicle.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for compensatory damages, costs of suit, and such relief as is fair, just and equitable. They are represented by Richard H. Dalrymple III of Law Offices of Larry S. Buckley in Chico.
