Lawsuit: Family seeking liability from state and San Francisco after man killed at water main installation site

SAN FRANCISCO - The State of California, San Francisco County, the City of San Francisco and numerous unidentified others were named in an April 1 wrongful death lawsuit.

The complaint was filed in San Francisco Superior Court by plaintiffs Beatrice Ceja, Alexis Pelayo, Armani Pelayo, Esmerelda Pelayo and Emmanuel Ceja, the wife and children of the decedent, Eduardo Pelayo.

Pelayo was an employee of KJ Woods Construction Inc., and was working at a water main installation cite in Twin Peaks on February 4, 2020.

According to the complaint, the LayMor Broom that was owned by the defendants that the decedent was operating was dangerous and defective for the job site, and Pelayo was killed when it suddenly overturned.

The defendants rejected a claim made by the plaintiffs in September, so the plaintiffs request the court order damages paid as deemed appropriate.

The plaintiffs are represented by the Haley Law Offices PC of Oakland.
