A Sacramento resident has filed a lawsuit against a local business and its owners, alleging negligence and seeking substantial damages. Noemi Guzman filed the complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on June 20, 2024, naming Teresa Villanueva Gonzalez, Martin Gonzalez Hernandez, and Becky’s LLC dba Roosters Breakfast And Mimosas as defendants.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on June 21, 2022. Guzman attended an event hosted by the defendants at the Sacramento River. The event included the rental of a pontoon boat and two jet skis from the Sacramento Boat Rental Company. According to the complaint, Guzman was permitted to ride on the back of a jet ski operated by another attendee without proper supervision or training provided by the defendants. The operator allegedly mishandled the jet ski, resulting in severe injuries to Guzman.

Guzman's complaint outlines multiple allegations against the defendants. It asserts that they failed to ensure that attendees had adequate knowledge or skill to operate the jet skis safely. "Defendants negligently failed to exercise reasonable care to ensure the safety of Plaintiff from the dangers of the jet ski," states one part of the complaint. Additionally, it accuses them of negligent entrustment for allowing an unfit individual to operate the vehicle.

The plaintiff argues that her injuries have caused significant physical and mental suffering and may require ongoing medical treatment. She is seeking compensatory damages for both economic and non-economic losses, including future medical expenses and compensation for impairments arising from her injuries.

Representing Guzman is Jeffrey M. Schaff from Schaff Law Group Inc., while details about attorneys representing the defendants were not disclosed in this filing. The case is being overseen by Judge [Judge's Name] under Case ID 24401217 33.
