Greenberg Traurig, LLPTax Practice Shareholders Nikki E. Dobay and Shail P. Shah will speak at the Council on State Taxation (COST) 55th Annual Meeting Sept. 25 -26.
On Sept. 25, Dobay will speak on "Critical SALT Trends for 2024 and Beyond,” a panel discussing the current state of state and local tax (SALT) trends. Dobay and the other panel members will also cover current and upcoming SALT legislation and litigation that will impact many different businesses.
On Sept. 26, Shah will speak on "Retroactive Legislation - The States are at it Again!" This panel will cover challenges to retroactive legislation across the country as well as two recent lawsuits filed in California challenging a retroactive apportionment statute that directly overturns decisions made by the Office of Tax Appeals.
Dobay is nationally known for her deep experience and understanding of state tax policy and the legislative process. She also advises her clients on sophisticated multistate tax issues as well as the consequences and planning opportunities related to corporate mergers and acquisitions transactions and oversees SALT controversy matters, ranging from audits to appellate litigation, and involving sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, property taxes, and constitutional issues.
