A California resident has taken legal action against a local market chain, alleging multiple violations of labor laws. On April 21, 2025, Ileana Chavarria Bones filed a class-action complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, against JE&E Chavez, LLC doing business as La Plaza Market.

The complaint accuses the defendant of failing to pay minimum and overtime wages, not providing meal and rest periods, and other labor code violations. According to the filing, Bones worked for the defendants from June 2023 to October 2024 and claims that during this time, she was systematically denied her rights under California's labor laws. The lawsuit alleges that the company maintained a "systematic, company-wide policy" that violated various sections of the California Labor Code. For instance, it failed to pay employees for all hours worked and did not provide timely meal or rest breaks. Additionally, Bones asserts that she and other employees were not reimbursed for necessary business expenses incurred during their employment.

Bones is seeking several forms of relief from the court. She requests unpaid wages for all hours worked without compensation and liquidated damages for failure to pay minimum wages. Furthermore, she seeks penalties for inaccurate wage statements and waiting time penalties due to untimely payment upon termination. The plaintiff also demands restitution under California's Business & Professions Code for unfair business practices.

The case is being handled by attorneys Kane Moon, Allen Feghali, Enzo Nabiev, and Carter Provencio from Moon Law Group PC. The case ID is 25CV463990.
