LOS ANGELES – A Burbank woman alleges that she was injured by a medication prescribed to treat irritable bowel syndrome.

Erin Duncan filed a complaint on Sept. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Allergan Inc., Allergan USA Inc. and Allergan PLC alleging strict liability, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was caused to suffer from acute pancreatitis, as well as other severe and personal injuries, as a result of taking the defendants' medication Viberzi.

The plaintiff holds Allergan Inc., Allergan USA Inc. and Allergan PLC responsible because the defendants allegedly concealed their knowledge of the defects in their product.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for compensatory, statutory and punitive damages; interest; costs of suit; attorneys’ fees; and all such other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Levi M. Plesset of Milstein Jackson Fairchild & Wade in Los Angeles.
