SAN FRANCISCO - The City College of San Francisco and two of its administrators were sued in the San Francisco County Superior Court for allegedly wrongfully terminating an employee that needed time off for her daughter's medical needs.
According to the complaint filed on March 26, plaintiff Yikki Wong worked for the college and reported to defendants Dean of Financial Aid and Special Programs Guillermo Villanueva and Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Dr. Elizabeth Coria.
Wong says the environment she returned to after taking time off for maternity leave and her infant's surgery was hostile and discriminatory against mothers. The plaintiff accuses the college of retaliating against her when she pointed out that it didn't provide the legally required lactation room accommodations and created false claims of payroll fraud.
Wong says her former employer conspired to create a discriminatory environment against her and refused to pay for work performed while on lunch break and while off the clock.
The plaintiff accuses the defendants of pregnancy/sex discrimination, failure to reasonably accommodate pregnancy, harassment based on pregnancy, Fair Employment and Housing Act retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation, retaliation in violation of labor code, failure to pay minimum wage and failure to pay waiting time penalties.
