A Sacramento resident has filed a lawsuit against another individual, alleging a series of defamatory actions that have severely impacted her personal and professional life. Jazmyne Garcia-Williams lodged the complaint in the Superior Court of California for the County of Sacramento on June 20, 2024, targeting Alexia Monet Vasquez as the defendant.

The case revolves around several accusations made by Garcia-Williams against Vasquez, including libel, slander, malicious prosecution, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to the court documents, Garcia-Williams claims that Vasquez falsely accused her of second-degree robbery in August 2021. This accusation led to Garcia-Williams' arrest and subsequent detention until she was released on bond. The plaintiff asserts that these charges were baseless and motivated by malice, as evidenced by the court's dismissal of the case due to lack of probable cause in June 2023.

Garcia-Williams further alleges that Vasquez engaged in a continuous campaign of defamation through social media platforms like Instagram. Specific instances cited include Vasquez referring to Garcia-Williams as "a mental patient" and accusing her of orchestrating robberies. Another post falsely claimed that Garcia-Williams had pleaded guilty to robbery and assault charges. These statements were not only false but also made with reckless disregard for their truthfulness, according to the plaintiff.

The lawsuit also details how these defamatory actions have caused significant emotional distress for Garcia-Williams and her child. The plaintiff recounts being arrested in front of her child, who now suffers from PTSD when around police officers. Garcia-Williams herself has experienced humiliation, loss of sleep, mental anguish, and damage to her reputation as a law-abiding citizen.

In addition to seeking compensatory damages for economic losses such as attorney fees and other related costs amounting to $34,458.51, Garcia-Williams is also pursuing punitive damages aimed at punishing Vasquez for her alleged malicious behavior. The plaintiff demands a jury trial to resolve these issues.

Representing Jazmyne Garcia-Williams is attorney Jennifer Mouzis from Mouzis Criminal Defense Law Firm. The case will be presided over by Judge H. Thomas under Case ID: 21FE013728.
